Dr. Anindya Jay Samanta M.D.

Anindya Jay Samanta M.D.Dr. Samanta was raised in Houston, Texas. He earned his B.S. in Cell Biology & Biochemistry from Rice University and went on to attend the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine in El Paso, Texas, where he graduated with the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, serving as chief resident in his final year. Dr. Samanta then pursued advanced training through a Vitreoretinal Disease and Surgical Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Following his fellowship, he was excited to return to El Paso to join Southwest Retina Associates, P.A., where he currently practices.

His research interests include retinal imaging, eye care for people experiencing homelessness, and home-based visual acuity assessment. He has published in these areas, presented at national ophthalmology conferences, and received multiple awards for his work.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Samanta enjoys watching the Houston Rockets and spending time with his pets.
